Here are the initiatives we're currently working on.
Feel free to contact us if you have any ideas, suggestions, or would like to participate in any of them.

    1

    Woodlawn community survey
    (COMPLETED)

A community needs assessment was conducted to gain a deeper understanding about the needs and resources in the community. The survey was conducted door-to-door and online from November 1st to December 1st, 2018. The results have been shared with Councillors Bill Karsten and Tony Mancini, MLA Tim Halman and MP Darren Fisher. Review the survey results here and join us to collaborate on addressing the Woodlawn community's needs.

    2

    Placemaking project (COMPLETED)

On June 1st, neighbours and neighbourhood friends come together for a fun family event with music, face painting, flower planting and the painting of 3 games on Mt. Edward Elementary School's playground!

If you missed the June 1st Placemaking event, we've captured the day in photos so please enjoy them by clicking here.

The placemaking event was financially supported by the Halifax Regional Municipality and in partnership with Mr. Edward Elementary School, Village on the Main and Halifax Cycling Coalition.

    3

Woodlawn Past and Present Photography Exhibition (AT PLANNING PHASE)

We've been visiting libraries and museums, and are in the process of compiling photos, stories, and other resources that relate to Woodlawn's history.

From mid-October to mid-November 2019, the photos and stories collected will be physically exhibited at - and in partnership with - NSCC Akerley and Dartmouth Historical Society.

We'd welcome help from anyone who is interested in taking part in this initiative - please contact us.

    4

Explore the possibility of registering as a Community Association

Based on input from residents, we are exploring the possibility of coming together as a community and register Woodlawn Community Association as a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the interests of residents, schools, the college, nonprofits and businesses in the Woodlawn community. A decision on this will be reached by August 2019.

If you'd be willing to be part of the organizing team please let us know. Thank you.
